07/09/23 - Indicative Costs for Sealing

Updated: Oct 1, 2024

Back at our April meeting of Council, Cr Karen Hockley successfully brought a motion to Council requesting a memo on Grevillea Way.

On Thursday, 07 September 2023, this memo was circulated to Council members. Click here to download the entire memo.

In short, a very rough estimate indicates that it would cost approximately $4 million to seal the dirt section of Grevillea Way. This includes provisional allowance for project management, design, native vegetation offset and service utility works which have a high degree of uncertainty at this stage.

Given that Council spends approximately $13 million each year on roads, this would represent a massive part of that budget, especially seeing only $24,000 to $28,000 is spent each year on grading the surface. A detailed breakdown of the estimations can be found in the Council memo.

It is clear that Council would need external funding from the State / Federal Government for any work, noting it would be extremely unlikely this project would receive 7 votes in the Council chamber.
